CALL FOR PROPOSALS – 2025-2026 Season

Creative research CROSS-residency for professional puppeteers from the Island of Montréal (CANADA) and CAtalonia (SPAIN)

Deadline for applications: Friday, February 14, 2025, before midnight

With the aim of developing puppetry arts, and fostering the exchange of contemporary practices between puppeteers of different origins, Casteliers and the Centre de Titelles de Lleida are partnering to offer a creative research cross-residency to professional puppeteers. The chosen Montréal artist will stay in Lleida, and in exchange, the island of Montréal will host a puppeteer from Catalonia.

The residencies will each last for twenty eight (28) days. They will take place in two stages: in Montréal, March 2 to 29, 2026, and in Lleida, April 21 to May 18, 2026.

The creative cross-residencies were developed with the following objectives:

  • Offer puppeteers in residence time to work and rehearse a show in its development stages, whether they are at the beginning, in the middle or at the end of the process.
  • Foster dialogue between Montréal puppeteers, their international peers and the many players in the broader arts community.
  • Foster international collaboration and co-productions.
  • Develop awareness among Montréal puppeteers about the contemporary creation in other countries.
  • Increase awareness among foreign puppeteers of the vibrant Montréal and Québec arts scene.
