Performed in French

Sonia et Alfred is a moving story of friendship, a simple story about the warm feeling you get when you find a home or a new friend; about what it feels like to have the courage to venture into unknown experiences for someone else’s sake.

Sonia et Alfred captures all of this in just a few essential words, with simple but powerfully evocative silhouettes set against a white, shadow theatre screen. With the help of two actor-animators, the silhouettes come to life and are transformed into characters that portray life’s great issues through gestures that are mundane, yet poignantly sober.

Company

Teatro Gioco Vita was founded in 1971 following a theatrical animation experience. From its very beginnings, the company’s savoir-faire and deep understanding of theatre offered an original contribution to the emergence of youth theatre in Italy.

The company first encountered shadow theatre in the late 1970s. Thanks to its cohesiveness and professionalism, and to contributions from external collaborators, Gioco Vita has forged a unique artistic approach that has earned it prestigious international recognition and partnerships.
