Step into the cozy atmosphere of the grand hotels of yesteryear!

The Bellhop takes us into the well-ordered routine at a hotel where the moment the bell rings, the bellboy springs into action—well in theory, at least. Because, in this hotel, the bellhop—a clumsy, rather lazy puppet—and the front desk clerk go through the same routine over and over again, day after day. That is, until. . . a demanding and sophisticated guest arrives, throwing this fragile balance off kilter and turning an ordinary day into a series of unpredictable and delightful situations.

Both funny and poetic, The Bellhop is a puppet show for all ages that cleverly captures the absurdity of everyday life and the beautiful messiness of life’s little mishaps.

2024 Drac d’Or Award, Best Street Performance category, Fira de Titelles, Lleida (Spain)

Laura Cortés started her stage career in 2006 as a theatre actress. In 2015 she discovered puppetry at the Casa Taller de Marionetas de Pepe Otal workshop in Barcelona, developing a language rooted in the relationship between body, object, and movement.

Between 2016 and 2018, she was a member of Fills de Fusta, the puppetry company that emerged from this famous workshop, where she specialized in string puppetry. The company won the World Puppet Festival Award, granted during the 2016 UNIMA Congress in Tolosa/San Sebastián (Spain), and toured Asia and Europe.

She founded Hilarilar Marionetas in 2019. That same year, she premiered The Bellhop, which has been touring internationally since.
