STOP MOTION AND THE STAGE
Casteliers, Puppet Animation Scotland and Magnetic North are jointly offering a creative cross-residency for professional puppeteers from Québec and Scotland. The residency creates the opportunity for the development of two new projects combining theatre, puppetry and stop motion animation, and encourages the sharing of creative skills and the collaboration across art forms.
The residency is in two parts:
- Edinburgh, January 20-31, 2020, as part of a “Rough Mix” residency led Magnetic North artistic director Nicholas Bone, followed by the Manipulate Visual Theatre Festival, February 1-8, 2020.
- Montréal, February 17-28, 2020, followed by the Festival de Casteliers, March 4-8, 2020.
The residency’s objectives are:
- To offer two experienced puppeteers, one from Québec and one from Scotland, the opportunity to each research and develop a new project that uses theatre, puppetry and stop motion animation techniques.
- To support the development of new creative partnerships and a network for the dissemination of puppetry and animation arts.
