To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Casteliers is organizing an exceptional series of school workshops and an exhibition : URBAN WILDLIFE.

Students from Montreal’s primary and secondary schools are invited to create different types of puppets or masks representing animals living in our cities.

The works created by all participating students will then be displayed in the shop windows of Outremont businesses as part of the Marionnettes en vitrines! walkabout exhibit all through February 2025.

Each workshop in the URBAN WILDLIFE project is tailored to the specific grade level, with a professional artist in the classroom to guide the students as they create this unique urban bestiary!

 

 

PRESCHOOL AND FIRST CYCLE (ELEMENTARY)
INSECTS – Rod puppets 

RUNNING TIME

Two, 60-minute periods

PROJECT TIMELINE

Workshops must take place between the early November 2024 and the end of January 2025.

FEE

This project is part of the Répertoire CULTURE-ÉDUCATION and is eligible for a LA CULTURE À L’ÉCOLE grant. The INSECTS workshop is $550 (+ tax), including materials.

 

SECOND AND THIRD CYLCLE (ELEMENTARY)
BIRDS – Rod puppets

RUNNING TIME

Two, 60-minute periods

PROJECT TIMELINE

Workshops must take place between the early November 2024 and the end of January 2025.

FEE

This project is part of the Répertoire CULTURE-ÉDUCATION and is eligible for a LA CULTURE À L’ÉCOLE grant. The BIRDS workshop is $550 (+ tax), including materials.

 

FIRST CYCLE / HIGH SCHOOL
MAMMALS – Table top puppets

RUNNING TIME

Two, 75-minute periods

PROJECT TIMELINE

Workshops must take place between the early November 2024 and the end of January 2025.

FEE

This project is part of the Répertoire CULTURE-ÉDUCATION and is eligible for a LA CULTURE À L’ÉCOLE grant. The MAMMALS workshop is $610 (+ tax), including materials.

 

SECOND CYCLE or ART STUDENTS / HIGH SCHOOL
OBSERVING THE ANIMAL HEAD / MAMMALS AND LARGE BIRDS – Helmet masks

RUNNING TIME

Trois périodes 75 minutes avec l’animatrice de Casteliers + cours avec l’enseignant.e pour compléter étapes entre chaque rencontre. Prévoir en tout, 7 à 8 cours de 75 min.

PROJECT TIMELINE

Les ateliers devront se dérouler entre le début novembre 2024 et la fin janvier 2025. 

FEE

Ce projet fait partie du répertoire CULTURE ÉDUCATION et est admissible à la subvention du programme LA CULTURE À L’ÉCOLE. Le coût de l’atelier est de 790 $ (+ tax), incluant les matériaux.
