In a kingdom where wishes often clash, an emperor dreams of hearing a nightingale sing, but his minister has only one thing on his mind: to enjoy a peaceful sleep. A kind-hearted young girl does her best to help them, a conductor strives to lead this unlikely orchestra, and, somewhere beyond, fishers are already marvelling at the bird’s song.
A freely adapted version of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Nightingale, this puppet show combines humour and music as it invites the whole family to embark on a heart-warming quest, where each character searches for their place in the world.
In case of rain, the performance will take place in the Saint-Viateur pavilion.

Of Kabyle Algerian heritage, Salim Hammad established himself in Québec in 1992. He has extensive expertise in puppetry and clowning, having studied with renowned masters such as Claire Voisard, René Bazinet, Chatouille, Massimo Shuster, and Jackie Gosselin. Over time, he developed a unique personal style as a puppeteer, actor, and creator of shows for young audiences.
