Mon conte de feu — À vélo entre les bombes qui tombent (My Tale by Fire—Cycling Between Falling Bombs) is a philosophical tale that chronicles the improbable cycling journey of Félix and his father in a Germany on the verge of capitulation. The walls of the Berlin Zoo have collapsed under the shelling, releasing the wild creatures. With his world turned upside down, Félix finds himself surrounded by a motley crew of animals. As he endures his share of challenges, the visions he is confronted with metamorphose within him, according to an alchemy peculiar to the marvellous. Featuring a trio of actresses and combining the powerful qualities of mask, shadow, and object theatre, this show tells the story of a child’s journey of initiation as he tries to make something of himself at a time when everything around him is collapsing.

A story inspired by Felix Mirbt’s personal diary.

Company

Since 1999, La Pire Espèce has been borrowing techniques from different disciplines, such as puppetry, object theatre, clowning, cabaret, and street theatre. Impertinent, festive, and incidentally erudite, the company’s theatre combines raw materials and unbridled imagination, baroque excess and surgical precision. By exploring the creative process, the company strives to develop a lively, innovative, and accessible art form. Taking a step back from theatrical illusion, the company aims to establish a direct relationship with the audience and create a sense of shared complicity.
