Puppet theatre is an age-old art form that continues to fascinate audiences of all ages and cultures. Thanks to its ongoing development, today’s puppet theatre is not only a richly traditional art form, but also a veritable interdisciplinary melting pot steeped in an effervescent and contemporary artistic language.

This entertaining workshop – featuring an exciting video presentation of show excerpts – provides an overview of traditional and contemporary creation in Québec and around the world.

The presentation is followed by a demonstration of several types of puppets and a short exploration of different manipulation techniques.

This introductory workshop can be adapted to suit participants’ age. It provides an excellent basis for introducing children to the art of puppetry, before moving on to puppet making and manipulation workshops.
