Michèle Nguyen opens the book of the past, tells a sensitive and imaginative version of her childhood, and explores the significant role her austere grandmother played. She tells the story of her youthful awkwardness, her need for silence, her passion for words, and her secret love that will help her connect with her origins… and inner peace. She is joined on this intimate journey by a quiet little puppet. The puppet embodies both the fragile nature of childhood that just the slightest setback can break, as well as our relentless inner child, pulling on all the strings to keep us from growing up.

Presented in collaboration with the Festival interculturel du conte du Québec

THE COMPANY

Michèle Nguyen was born in Algeria of a Vietnamese father and a Belgian mother. She grew up in Belgium and was trained at the LASSAAD International Theatre School in Brussels, known for its teaching method based on movement and the emergence of the actor-creator. She quickly found her place within the storyteller community. Encouraged by audience feedback and by the various awards she has received for her work, she has been developing a very personal approach to gesture and story writing. Since 1996, from show one show to ne next, she has been on a quest to purify her intimate dramaturgy.
