2022-2023 Call for Proposals: Creative research residency for professional puppeteers from Montréal

Deadline for applications: Monday, June 20, 2022 (before midnight)

With the goal of developing puppetry, Casteliers and the Montréal Arts Council (Conseil des arts de Montréal-CAM) are partnering, in collaboration with The Le Schatz House, to offer two (2) creative residencies for professional puppeteers.

The residencies will each last for seventeen (17) days. They will take place in two stages: two weeks at the Maison Internationale des arts de la marionnette (MIAM) and five (5) days at the Le Schatz House in Sutton. These residencies must be held at the MIAM during one of the following three periods: from December 6 to 19, 2021, from January 16 to January 27, 2023, from March 20 to 31, 2023 or from April 24 to May 5, 2023, and at Le Schatz in November 2022 or March 2023.

The residencies were developed based on the following objectives:

  • Offer puppeteers in residence time to work and rehearse on a show being created, whether they are at the beginning, in the middle or at the end of their process
  • Give access to MIAM’s specialized spaces, equipment and resources
  • Give access to a creative space located in the heart of nature, the Le Shatz House
  • Support the creation of works by the Montréal puppetry community

One of the two residencies will be reserved for a project by artists from a minority group: Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit), racialized minorities, ethnocultural diversity.
